Located directly adjacent to the Palmer Events Center and the Long Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Austin, this 1,200-Car Parking Garage is among the most used facilities of its type in the City. Constructed of pre-cast concrete, the garage gently curves around the Long Center, maintaining green space along the corner of a busy intersection. A covered pedestrian walkway provides shade with awnings that evoke the shape of the Palmer Events Center’s canopy. A “green screen” along the edge of the garage provides additional shading with vines that enhance the structure’s presence in the public park setting. Shown to the right, solar panels on the top floor generate electricity while providing shade for cars along the perimeter.

The Palmer Parking Garage along with the Palmer Events Center were completed by BGK, Taniguchi Architects & Associates, and Centerbrook Architects and Planners.
