BGK Architects, serving as Architect of Record, partnered with BORA Architecture & Interiors to design the new Arts and Media Building at Texas A&M – Corpus Christi. Created in response to growing enrollment in music, theater, media, and visual arts programs, this state-of-the-art facility supports the evolving needs of the School of Arts, Media & Communication.

Designed to enhance undergraduate education and program accreditation in music, theater, and dance, the building features specialized instructional labs, including music rehearsal halls, theater labs for costume and scenery construction, and a dance studio. Approximately half of the facility is dedicated to modern performance venues, providing exceptional spaces for dramatic and musical theater productions.

Through a collaborative design process, the design team worked closely with stakeholders, balancing program requirements with the unique needs of each discipline. The design was shaped by an analysis of external influences—natural and artificial light, underwater experiences, and regional materials—creating a space that reflects both innovation and the surrounding environment. To accommodate budget considerations, the project also incorporated a series of scalable design alternatives, allowing for future expansion as funding becomes available.

With a vision that blends functionality, artistic expression, and long-term adaptability, the Arts and Media Building stands as a vital addition to the campus.
